The new Volvo S60 for 2018 won’t definitely bowl you over with exhilaration, but with its available engine lineup and laudable safety features, it’s an appealing pick for anyone shopping in the entry-level luxury sedan segment. Some of the highpoints include impressive safety crash test scores, well-balanced ride and handling, robust and fuel-sipping turbo engines. Its release date suggests that the vehicle will be available this fall.
For 2018, the S60 gains more head-and legroom, an extended wheelbase model, shuffled plenty of optional features across multiple trims, but deleted the fold-flat front passenger seat feature.
The S60 has long been a darling for many in terms of safety and more recently for its exterior and interior styling. Last year saw Volvo bolster its position as a staid provider of fuel-efficient engines, and the same continues even for this model year as the automaker has lined up a variety of fuel-efficient engines. This will undoubtedly place it above its more formidable German rivals especially after debuting its spacious S60 Inscription trim.
The Inscription now comes with improved dimensions over the previous model. It is now 3” longer in terms of the wheelbase and 3” more rear passenger volume. And it will give U.S shoppers a reason to buy it. In addition, it comes with a well-appointed interior and plenty of upscale technologies including a rear seat entertainment system.
Still, the S60 designers didn’t entirely manage to build a fault-free S60, as it still comes with some few downsides including a crampy legroom for the standard wheelbase version, and a fuel-sapping all-wheel-drive models. Other alternatives worth considering include 2018 Lexus ES 350, 2018 BMW 3 Series, and Acura TLX 2018. We like the Volvo S60 nonetheless and we’d recommend it to anyone looking for an entry-level mid-size luxury sedan.

Save for the different engine’s specs both the standard-wheelbase T5 Drive-E and T5 all-wheel-drive come with, they feature the same equipment levels. Opting the Platinum gets you all the above features as standard plus an automated paralleled parking system, adaptive xenon headlights, and 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
The T6 Drive-E builds upon the T5 Drive-E’s equipment plus power lumbar support, keyless entry and ignition, adjustable steering effort, 18” alloy wheels, a more robust engine, and a sport-tuned suspension system.

Engine Specs – Volvo S60 2018
A 2.0L turbocharged inline-four cylinder engine generating 240 hp and 258 pounds of torque comes equipped under the hoods of both the T5 Drive-E and T5 Inscriptions models. The power that results from the engine is sent to the front-wheel-drive system via the eight-speed shiftable automatic transmission system.
A turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine under the hoods of both the T5 AWD and the T5 AWD Inscription generates 266 pounds of torque and 250 pounds of torque. EPA ratings for both of them stands at 21/29/24 mpg in the city/highway/combined.
