News of the 2018 Tesla Model X have been going back and forth for a while back, with Tesla choosing to downplay most of the speculations. This 2018 Tesla Model X review however, will try to demystify the mystery that has recently defined the Model X midsize crossover as much as it is possible. Its release date is expected in the latter half of 2016 of course as a 2018 year model.
Some of the attributes that define the newest model include a capable towing capacity rated at 5,000 pounds, easy ingress and egress of the second- and third-row seats, adequate range for daily commute, and a choice of either a six- or a seven passenger arrangement.
While the 2018 Tesla Model S has manages to snatch away most of the hyper commentaries, the Model X has still managed to make it in the media limelight albeit at a significant level. It’s fun, nice, seductive, and sleek. Its combination of luxury, price, and performance are comparable to none of its likes in the entire automotive industry. It’s a crossover version of the 2018 Tesla Model S, and Tesla hopes to extend some winning streak to it as well.
The 2018 Tesla Model X, in a nutshell, is well-suited to people who particularly love the Model S but find it too low and small. Again, it’s a good companion for bigger families who’d want more passenger space, and cargo volume combined with some flair of greener credentials. It comes with a standard third-row that makes it able to accommodate up to seven passengers comfortably. And unlike other vehicles with a cramped third-row seating, the Model X’s is ample and adult friendly.
Accessing the third-row has also been made simple by what Tesla calls “Falcon Wings” – unique gullwing-style rear doors – that reduce closing and opening arcs in tight spaces and allow a freer access to the backseats via the use of dual sensors and hinges. According to Tesla, the doors are able to open with just 1 foot of side clearance – how awesome is that?
The same platform that underpins the Tesla Model S 2018 sedan is what will also be in use for the crossover Model X version. So expect virtually all the sedan’s accessories, and mechanical underpinnings on the crossover version as well. Dimensions for the length and width are expected to remain unaltered despite Model X being taller.
Once available, the 2018 Tesla Model X competition will include both the Bentley Bentayga SUV and Audi Q8 E-tron crossover.
